County Council offices in Frome to close in February

THE Somerset County Council offices in Frome are to close and staff will move into the district council offices in Shepton Mallet.
The staff at Frome will be among around 220 people from across the district who will be moving from mid-February onwards.
The move is part of a wider plan to save taxpayers’ money and enable residents to access a variety of public services in one place, according to the council.
Staff will move to Shepton Mallet from the Frome Social Care area office in Christchurch Street West. The reception will close but the building will still be available for scheduled meetings between staff and customers. The county council will be contacting existing customers who use the office to let them know what the new arrangements will be.
